In May of 1990, Chuck and Barb House adopted a young boy from Lamarre, Haiti.  When he graduated from high school, he chose to return to seek out his Haitian family. That trip was  the beginning of several trips over the years. It also birthed an appreciation of the Haitian people.  They knew that most Haitians   struggled  to  provide food and basic needs for themselves and their families.  But  they didn't realize how much joy can be found when  the only security  you have is Jesus.   They wanted the people in America to see what they were seeing. So began Hope Haitian Choir! It was a means to share that  HOPE and JOY with  those who so desperately  needed to see it.
That was 2012. In the summer of 2014, Hope Haitian Ministries was formed and was approved as a 501(c)3 corporation.  The ministry  was evolving into so much more than Hope Haitian Choir.   A church was built in 2015 in the same village  of Lamarre:   Eglise Biblique Espoir de Lamarre...Bible Hope Church of Lamarre. One year later,   School of Hope   began with 31 sponsored students.

In the fall of 2018, the ministry partnered with Compassion International which  allowed them to expand, providing sponsorships for many more students.   As of this writing in May 2023, over 400 children are currently enrolled in Grades Preschool through Grade 6.    Each student receives a nourishing meal every day and excellent teaching in French.

There are exciting plans ahead, as God wills and funds allow, for the development  of a soccer field,  the building  of teacher housing  and the building of a high school. Seeing the need for jobs and the development of independence, a trade school was built in 2021. Part of that trade school is a bakery which was just completed along with our fourth classroom building. The latest development is the creation of a Bible school for the adults interested in pursuing the Lord in a more structured way.

Chuck and Barb gladly give all the glory to God for what He has accomplished these past years!
